Summary:
Evie is already dreading her family's move from New York City to the tiny Massachussets town of Ravenglass, a dread only made worse by the rumors of haunting surrounding the eerie ancestral home her family is returning to, especially surrounding the disappearance of her aunt Holly three decades earlier. Despite her befriending Tina, the Ravenglass Police Chief's daughter, and beginning to fall for Desmond, the most popular boy in town, Evie can't seem to escape the creepy happenings and odd voices within her home...

Thoughts:
This was a fun, spooky YA read. The characterization was very minimal, and the side characters had almost no personality at all. But the horror itself was well executed, with lots of clever creepy things like dolls talking and dramatic warnings from elderly neighbors. I liked the way the thoughts of the other girls showed up in Evie's head; it was very dramatic and creepy and perfectly encapsulated by the dress she sewed. The author also did a good job maintaining mystery by hinting that Evie might have been diagnosed with some disorder like schizophrenia. I wasn't able to give this book a ton of attention, since I had a busy week, but it was fun enough that I will probably read the next book in the series when it comes out, especially since this book ended on a very dramatic cliff-hanger (Desmond has disappeared into the mines!)
