Summary:
Two years ago, in a drug-induced stupor, Bryce Quinlan discovered her friend Danika nd the rest of her werewolf pack ripped to shreds by a demon. Now Bryce, accompanied by enslaved soldier and Angel of Death Hunt Athalar, has the chance to find her friend's killer. But in Crescent City, where among the technology and civilization lies a desperate tension between species and classes, things are rarely as straightforward as they seem. Even as Bryce begins to care for Hunt, she must find a way to reconcile her place in the city--and Danika's.

Thoughts:
I never don't enjoy a good SJM re-read. There are oodles of issues, especially with the writing (this is the first time that I've been cognizant enough of the flaws to genuinely struggle to get through somme chapters) and with the black-and-white perfection of characters. However, this is a fun, immersive, and in some way very smart read that never fails to make me feel excited and invested. Maas's portrayal of female relationships, especially that between Bryce and her mother, is more impressive than people give it credit for. Though the depictions are not particularly nuanced, they are accurate and so very fun to read. I am excited to continue my series re-read over break, and to read the new book in the series when it comes out.
