Summary:
Charlie is certain that Nick, his new friend who is a year above him in school, is straight. It's fine. They can just be friends, great friends. But then Nick realizes that he's bisexual, and he and Charlie begin dating. But on top of focusing on school and their relationship, they boys must navigate coming out to friends and family, their complicated family dynamics, and Charlie's eating disorder. Through it all, though, they have each other. And that means a lot.

Thoughts:
Alice Oseman is magic. Heartstopper is magic. It made me so happy. So, so happy, especially since she's releasing pages again. I stared it during school and read (with much happiness) through most of my classes because Hearstopper just gives joy. The art is sweet, the story is sweet, the characters are sweet. . . I just love all of it so much. None of the bad tropes are used— no miscommunication, no cheating, really no relationship problems, just Nick and Charlie figuring out problems together. That's my favorite thing. Nick and Charlie  are so in love, and they are willing to do anything for each other. Charlie being okay with waiting to come out as a couple until Nick was ready. Nick being so incredibly perfect and supportive about Charlie's eating disorder—he acknowledged that it was hard for him, but he prioritized Charlie and was there for him the whole time. I also loved all of the other characters. Elle is so freaking cool—I feel like she's the most like me out of the whole comic, too. Aled being there is amazing, bc it's Aled. There's a moment where he is sitting outside in Paris and singing, and I think what he's singing is the Universe City song. And that kinda kills me a little.
I am also so excited for all the new Hearstopper news. The fact that Alice is updating again is EVERYTHING, and I am so excited to be able to read it as it comes out. I am also looking forward to the show. The cast looks perfect, and since Alice is doing the script, I have very high hopes.
I might consider updating this as I read more of the comic. We'll see. Either way, Heartstopper is so freaking amazing and I'm so glad that I exist at a time where I get to read it.
