Summary:
Instead of being relieved their time solving a series of murderers is over, James Watson and Charlotte Holmes's relationship starts to become strained over their holiday break in London. Between Holmes's boundaries thanks to events that happened the year previous and Watson's discomfort with the way she is pulling away, their friendship has never been more precarious. When Holmes's mother is poisoned and uncle goes missing, Holmes and Watson set off to find the culprit and bring order back to their lives.

Thoughts:
I remembered this book being better than the first one. Maybe it's just that the cute moments were more awkward than anything else since I was reading with my family, but I'm pretty sure my memory was just wrong. Most of the book was Jamie whining about Holmes paying attention to August Moriarty and not him: Mal half way through Siege and Storm level unnecessary jealousy. The whining got real old, real fast, and it was even worse to have it happen to the narrator than to a love interest. The pacing of the second half was also pretty wack, with not enough momentum and heist-y excitement and too much panic and stress and fear of failure. It was kind of icky. The ending was ... wild. Startling. I'm not sure if we're going to continue the series. There were some good moments, but all in all the second book was not nearly as enjoyable. Oops.
