Summary:
Alex Clairmont-Diaz has always loved politics and elections. So when his mom won the 2016 Presidential Election, Alex was ecstatic. Now that his mom is ramping up her campaign for re-election, Alex wants to do more. This is what he's going to school for, after all, and it's the perfect next step if he wants to be a U.S. Senator by 30 alongside his position as the perpetually flawless first son and American sex symbol. Then, during a disastrous dinner at the wedding of a British royal, he falls into a cake. Along with His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales, whom Alex has hated for as long as he could remember.
In order to quell the international relations scandal, Alex and Henry must pretend to be friends in the most public way possible, regardless of Alex's hatred. Except Alex begins to recognize that maybe he doesn't hate Henry quite as much as he thought he

Thoughts:
This book is joy. In honor of Alex, a list:
  1. Their relationship. God.
  2. Alex has no shame, no fear. He doesn't get stressed by a list of tasks; instead he uses tasks to manage stress about other things. Not healthy, necessarily, but his lack of anxiety over doing things is such a delicious break for me.
  3. Their letters. They make me swoon. They make me laugh so damn hard.
  4. The found family. The six of them together just being effortless, supportive, funny, unafraid. I would do anything to be one of them, to be part of them. Just saying.
  5. The feeling of happy at the LGBTQ+ support. It's such a big, sweeping kind of happy. It makes me want to cry.
Basically, thank you Casey McQuiston. Know that I have a copy now that I will probably take with me in every move for the rest of my life. It makes me so damn happy, like bursting out of my skin because the world feels so right kind of happy. It's an alternative of what 2020 really looked like, and it's just so perfect. So thank you.
